With the British Empire spreading out from England from the 16th century, this led to a large English diaspora worldwide. Some are descendants of English people who settled foreign lands. Others have a history which has stemmed from the interaction between English settlers and original populations.

England is home to some of the most well preserved examples of medieval castles in the world, and the perfect place to visit for anyone interested in the stunning architecture and history they encapsulate. England's oldest castles date back to the 11th century and many of the first ones were built by William the Conqueror.
FOOD
While it's more modern restaurants have been influenced greatly by international cuisine, especially from countries which were part of the British Empire, it's old staples were simpler, wholesome and filling dishes which evolved in a time where the priority was a substantial meal before, after or during a hardy work day.
WINES & SPIRITS
Gin is by far the spirit that England is most associated with. It emerged in England in the early 17th Century, and it's cheap price made it popular among the poor. Wine-making was introduced to England by the Romans, and after a decline in the mid 1800s viticulture was revived in the 1970s.
LITERATURE, ART & ARCHITECTURE
The English language spread with the rise of the British Empire and given it’s influence, England's literature was always going to have a major impact. The art and architecture of England has been similarly influential the world over, so an exploration of these aspects of English culture is a great premise for a tour of the country.

GOLF
Being so closely tied to Scotland, where golf was first played, England has a long history with the sport of golf. After it was first played in Scotland in the 1400s, the sport spread through 16th century Europe and King Charles I brought the game to England. The first golf club formed outside Scotland was the Royal Blackheath, near London, in 1766.
