Welsh Gardens
All across Wales you will find stunning gardens, many of which have have been restored by the National Trust, and they contain an array of exotic flowers and plants to excite garden enthusiasts and nature lovers. Due to Wales' location on the west of Great Britain, it is more upland, wetter and windier than England which favours the growth of plants such as heathers, rhododendron and camellia.
Our team can create for you the perfect garden tour, and for any garden enthusiast, the National Botanical Garden of Wales in Carmarthenshire is a must, as it contains the world's largest single-span glasshouse. It houses plants from several Mediterranean climate regions including Chile, Western Australia, South Africa, California, the Canary Islands and the Mediterranean itself.
The Botanical gardens also has a range of themed gardens, the British Bird of Prey Centre, a tropical Butterfly House and a national nature reserve. As well as being a visitor attraction, it is also a centre for botanical research.
The majority of Wales’ gardens are located in the north but other beautiful gardens in the south of the country worth a visit include Colby Woodland Gardens, Pembrokeshire, Newport, Dinefwr Park in Carmarthenshire ,and Tredegar House and Park. Tredegar House is surrounded by ancient trees, beautiful lakes and three exquisite mansion gardens – orchard, cedar and orangery.
The north of Wales is home to a multitude of amazing gardens including Chirk Castle and Erdigg near Wrexham, Plas Newydd in Anglesey, and Bodysgallen Hall in Llandudno.
Also in the North, in Conwy, is Bodnant Garden. Set against the backdrop of Snowdonia National Park, it houses seeds and cuttings assembled on expeditions more than a century ago. Also on the 80 acre site are 200 year old trees, lawns, ponds, 200 foot long arch flowers, terraces, valleys and streams.
